Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Program
| Any dog, regardless of breed, has the opportunity to earn the Canine Good Citizen certification. The dog must demonstrate his/her ability to sit politely for petting, allow grooming, accept a friendly stranger, stay calm while walking through a crowd, show good manners with other dogs, not be bothered greatly by distractions, do sits/downs and stay on command, and not fuss while being held on leash by a stranger. | ||
| The CGC test is offered to club members once a year, and our obedience classes help handlers and dogs learn and build on the skills required to pass the test. The next CGC test will be held in May of 2007. | ||
| Those who take and pass the test receive a CGC Certificate from the American Kennel Club (AKC). There is now also a patch and a CGC collar tag available through AKC. Owners can purchase these separately. | ||
