About the Fort Wayne
Obedience Training Club
|
 |
| |
-
In 2010, Fort Wayne
Obedience Training Club (FWOTC) is over 63 years old!
-
FWOTC was started by
Sheriff Custer A Dunifon in 1946. The club started with 45
members. The first class to teach beginning obedience was in January
1947, with 50 dogs in attendance. In May of 1947, FWOTC was
incorporated as a not-for-profit organization. Today, club
membership averages over 250 families.
-
Dog obedience shows,
sanctioned by the American Kennel Club, allow handlers to demonstrate
various levels of proficiency in obedience work. In 1947, club
members earned 6 AKC titles. Today, there are club members who
travel to shows almost every weekend. We are proud to boast of
members who have nationally ranked dogs.
-
Our involvement and
dedication to dog training doesn't end with obedience classes. FWOTC
is also involved in agility, tracking, canine good citizen and visiting
therapy dog training, which are all available to club members.
-
Every year, FWOTC hosts
an AKC sanctioned obedience trial and two annual agility trials.
Dogs and their handlers from all over the Midwest come in hopes of meeting
the requirements needed to earn an AKC degree.
-
As a service to our
community, we consider all invitations for demonstration programs and
requests for guest speakers. Additionally, select dogs, those with
the Visiting Dogs Program therapy dog certificate, visit nursing homes,
hospitals and schools.
-
If you are interested in
having a demonstration by FWOTC members, please contact us.

'We train you to train your dog.' |
| |
The Fort Wayne Obedience Training Club, Inc. is located in Fort Wayne, Indiana and has been training owners to train their dogs for over 50 years now!!
Build the bond of trust and love with your dog with obedience training today!
Our Non Member classes will help you learn to train your dog to sit, lay down, stay, walk on a leash, come when called, and more! We also can help you with problems like digging, chewing, pulling, barking, and housetraining. Our trainers can answer almost any question you might have about training your dog. After completing an 8 week public class with your dog (both mixed breeds or purebreds welcome), you may wish to become a member of the FWOTC. We offer a large variety of classes to our members, including classes in Obedience (for home and/or competition) and Agility (a canine obstacle course that is LOTS of fun!).
