Obedience and Rally Obedience

Obedience training is to demonstrate the usefulness of a dog as a companion and/or a competitor. The basic objective is to produce a dog that has been trained and conditioned to behave in the home, in public places, and in the presence of other dogs.

We have many club members who show in obedience trials. For many of our club members, it has become an enjoyable sport for both the handler and the dog. Showing in obedience trials is no longer limited to pure-bred dogs only. There are trials available for mixed breed dogs and they earn the same obedience titles as the pure-bred dogs.

We offer public obedience classes to non-members of the club.  We offer a multitude of obedience classes to our club members.  The classes for non-members and club members meet on different nights.

Rally obedience is a companion sport to AKC Obedience.  It is a wonderful introduction to the sport of Obedience for dogs and their handlers.  Rally strengthens the dog and handler bond and improves attention because vocal praise and signals are allowed.  We have many club members who show in rally obedience trials as well.  It is also open to mixed breed dogs.  You must be a club member to take rally obedience classes.
